Just after 2:00 p.m., Union Township Police responded to the area of SR 125 at Bennett Rd for a suspect with a Federal warrant.   Union Township Police Officers arrived at the location and observed a man inside a vehicle that matched the description of the wanted suspect.

As the officers approached the vehicle, the suspect struck a marked police vehicle while fleeing from officers.  He continued to flee in the vehicle south on Bennett Rd. until the vehicle crashed into a pool behind a home on Bennett Rd.  The suspect continued on foot while being pursued by Union Township Officers.  He was later caught in the wooded area near Gaskins Rd.

International Cardboard Boat Regatta coming to New Richmond

NEW RICHMOND, OH (FOX19) - Surrounded by ornate boats like the Island Queen and Batmobile, and others resembling a simple kayak, organizers of the 19th annual International Cardboard Boat Regatta encourage young and old alike creating a floating box for the Saturday, August 20, 2011 competition along the New Richmond riverfront.  “Hopefully, you won’t get the Titanic award,” laughed Ray Perszyk.  The Titanic award notes the most memorable sinking of the day.

“All you need to make a boat is cardboard, duct tape, house paint, and a good imagination,” said Perszyk.  “We have great trophies that are actually boat oars; there are 20 categories including fastest boat and most creative use of cardboard.  We expect 50-60 boats to compete in this year’s competition.  Boat builders of all ages and skill levels are welcome.”

Each boat carries from one to six rowers.  What’s the secret of building a cardboard boat that not only floats but can carry th

State requests disaster aid for Anderson Township and points east

CINCINNATI (FOX19) - Ohio's entire congressional delegation has endorsed Governor John Kasich's request for federal disaster assistance after the floods that devastated Anderson Township, parts or Clermont County, and more places that were hit by a band of heavy rain than ran east across the southern part of the state.

U.S. Senator Rob Portman (R-Ohio), said “I believe federal disaster assistance is necessary to help the communities affected by severe storms recover, rebuild and get back on their feet,” said Portman. “The communities in the Appalachian region of Ohio, which were already distressed due to high unemployment and the lack of infrastructure to handle weather related emergencies, have been especially hard hit. I support Governor Kasich’s request and urge the President to act expeditiously on it.”

Here is a copy of the letter, provided by Senator Sherrod Brown's office:

Library turns into University of Duct Tape on Monday

FELICITY, OH (FOX19) - Did you know duct tape comes in dozens of colors and patterns?  The household tape comes in neon colors, zebra prints, racing flames, and there’s even a college logo line.  According to Reader’s Digest magazine, the same strong fabric-based tape with rubber adhesive that helped Apollo 13 astronauts repair some equipment to get safely home to Earth from a moon orbit can be used to repair cars, fix household objects, wrap packages, and design prom dresses.

At the Felicity branch of the Clermont County Public Library, located at 209 Prather Road, a Duct Tape Mania class will be held on Monday, May 16, beginning at 2:30 p.m., where you can make all kinds of things out of the amazing tape, including pencil holders, bracelets, cell phone cases, hair bows, and wallets.

“All materials are provided; all you need to bring is your imagination,” said Jessica Potts with the Felicity Library branch.  While Felicity Franklin seventh grader

Photos of a tornado near Eastgate Mall that are appearing in email inboxes all over the Tri-State have been determined to be fake.

The photos show what appears to be a tornado near the parking lot of the mall.

The photos were sent to the Clermont County Emergency Management Agency, which sent the photos to the National Weather Service, who determined the photos to be fake.

FOX19 Chief Meteorologist Steve Horstmeyer also took a look at the photos and agreed they look fake based on the following evidence:

Spending Mega Millions prize may be no easy task

CINCINNATI (FOX19) - If you should happen to win the upcoming Mega Millions jackpot, and your goal is to use up all the money as fast as possible, you might want to move out of town.

If you are simply determined to dispose of the money, that's no problem.  You could donate it all to a leading university or hospital.  You could gamble it away around the world.  You could give it away a million at a time to people you met in bars.  If you asked a luxury shipbuilder to use it all on a yacht, they could oblige you.  You could buy the City of Cincinnati a streetcar system.

On the other hand, if you go shopping around the Tri-State at advertised prices, you might find that the money, which is an estimated $198.2 million if taken in cash, goes a long way.

We looked for a group of mostly Cincinnati-area items that a person could buy, and found it hard to use up the money.  For starters, we added up the price of the 50 most-expensive homes c

Monkey no longer wandering Clermont County

Monkey no longer wandering Clermont County

AMELIA, OH (FOX19) - A Clermont County woman is very relieved now that she knows her capuchin monkey named Figaro is safe after his three day adventure alone.

Alison Rost was unloading her 7-year-old monkey at the Clermont Animal Hospital Monday to be neutered when he became frightened and his cage opened and he took off for the trees.

She had had reports Wednesday that he was near Amelia High School, and made plans to look for him Thursday morning, which she did.  Within hours, she found him and was able to take him back home.

Rost says the monkey never leaves her farm except to go to the vet, and says he is scared of people besides her, never having met many people.

The last sighting, before Figaro was found, was about a mile or mile and a half south of where he escaped.

She says Figaro is primarily a fruit-eating animal, but will dig under tree bark for insects or even catch animals as large as mice.  She says capuchins
