Free bus rides for bike riders on May 17

(FOX19) - To celebrate Bike to Work Day, bicycle commuters can ride the Metro and Tank bus or the Clermont Transportation Connection (CTC) for free on Friday, May 17.

Bike racks are located on the front of all Metro, TANK and CTC buses and can be used at all bus stops including Government Square downtown. Each bike rack can accommodate two bikes.

Metro and TANK were recognized as “Bike Friendly Destinations” for providing advocacy and infrastructure improvements to support bicycling for employees and riders in 2011 and 2012.

Metro and TANK will also be at the Bike to Work Day Celebration on Washington Park on May 17, from noon to 1 p.m., to demonstrate the ease of biking and riding buses. Visit http://www.queencitybike.com/ for information on Cincinnati Bike Month activities.

Construction begins Monday on Eastgate roads

BATAVIA TOWNSHIP, OH (FOX19) - Construction is set to begin Monday for improvements that are being made Eastgate North Frontage Road and Eastgate Boulevard over State Route (SR) 32.

Clermont County Engineer Pat Manger announced on Wednesday that work will begin on both projects on Monday, April 22. Advance signage notifying drivers of related traffic impacts will be placed in the area this week.

“Improving safety, reducing congestion and supporting better traffic flow through the area are our primary goals for all of the work we do,” said Engineer Manger. “Transportation improvements in the Eastgate area will happen in a coordinated sequence,” he continued. “Last year, we began work on Eastgate North Frontage Road. We will continue – and complete – that work this summer. In addition to the Eastgate North Frontage Road work, we will also begin work on relocating the existing westbound entrance and exit ramps from SR 32 to Eastgate North Drive.”

CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - The Southwest Ohio Regional Transit Authority has elected Karl Schultz as Vice Chair of the SORTA board for 2013.

Schultz is a member of the Miami Township, Clermont County, Board of Trustees. He also serves as a member of the Ohio-Kentucky-Indiana Regional Planning Authority (OKI) board of directors.  He joined the SORTA Board in 2010.

600K awarded to Clermont County for future road projects

BATAVIA, OH (FOX19) - The Clermont County Transportation Improvement District was recently awarded $600,000 dollars to approve access and mobility in the Eastgate area.

This is the largest funding allocation provided to a single Transportation Improvement District in the state.

"This is a huge win for the CCTID and for Clermont County," said Clermont County Engineer Pat Manger. "The CCTID's purpose is to design and construct projects that not only address local transportation needs but also facilitate economic development and growth. The fact that Clermont County was awarded this level of support is a clear demonstration that ODOT recognizes the value of the work we are doing and supports our efforts."

The funding awards will be divided among three projects:

The Aicholtz Connector Project - Construction is expected to begin in 2015.

The Ivy Pointe Boulevard Extension Project - Construction expected to begin in summer 2013.

Culvert work to affect traffic in Clermont County

CLERMONT COUNTY, OH (FOX19) - Culvert installation work will require a five-day closure of State Route 48, approximately 1370 feet south of the northern junction of the Schlottman Road intersection.

The closure will be in place from Monday, Oct. 29 to Friday, Nov. 2 between US 22 in Warren County and SR 28 in Clermont County.

The detour for northbound traffic will be west on SR 28 to north on I-275 to east on US 22. Southbound traffic will use the reverse route.

Arrow boards and/or signs will be in place prior to the work zone to alert motorists of the upcoming road closure.

Road closed due to pipe collapse in Williamsburg Township

WILLIAMSBURG TOWNSHIP, OH (FOX19) - The Clermont County Engineer’s Office has closed a portion of McKeever Pike, near 4472 McKeever Pike, in Williamsburg Township, due to a pipe collapse. 

Construction to repair the collapse began on Tuesday.  The roadway is scheduled to reopen on Wednesday, August 8.

Traffic will be rerouted along Jackson Pike, SR 133, and SR 32.
