Batavia and Goshen Township students sign national letters of intent

BATAVIA AND GOSHEN, OH (FOX19) - Moeller high school sent out notice on Tuesday regarding students who have signed national letters of intent to continue their sports activities on a college level.

TYLER AMANN has committed to play baseball at Ohio University.  He will play infield/outfield for the Bobcats.  He has participated in Moeller baseball for 3 years and looks forward to his senior year as a Crusader playing second base.  Amann has received First Team All-GCL, First Team All-City, First Team All-State for baseball.  Amann maintains academic honors and a 3.1 GPA.  Tyler is the son of Rob and Carrie Amann of Batavia.

JOEY WARD will continue his wrestling career under Head Coach CD Mock at the University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill.  Ward competes at the 125lb weight and was the 2011 OHSAA State Champion.  Ward is a current member of the National Honor Society and carries a 4.0 GPA.

LAGUNA SECA, CA (FOX19) - Wright Motorsports' Kasey Kuhlman of Cincinnati recorded an eighth and a sixth-place finish last weekend in the IMSA GT3 Challenge by Yokohama doubleheader at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca. His teammate, Mitch Landry of Lake Charles, La., placed third and sixth in the Gold Cup division in the same races. 

Wright Motorsports, which is based in Batavia, Ohio, also supported the TruSpeed Motorsports cars that competed in the same events.  One of them driven by Bryce Miller won Saturday's race, while another one driven by David Hansson came in fourth both days. 

Saturday's race was the series' usual 45-minute contest, but Sunday's race was 75 minutes long. 

Kuhlman drives the No. 15 2011 Porsche 997 advertising Kuhlsport and the Motorsports Country Club of Cincinnati. Landry's car is the No.

Local 3412's Golf Scramble helps firefighter's family

ANDERSON TOWNSHIP, HAMILTON COUNTY, OH - Support came to one Anderson Township firefighter on Wednesday, September 14th, thanks to the Local 3412 Fire in the Hole Golf Scramble. Anderson Township Firefighter Jeff Ridge and his family are in the midst of a financial and emotional battle with autism. Their 6 year old son Cameron was diagnosed with the disorder three years ago. Now they’re struggling to afford his treatment. 

“Cameron has done very well with treatment, socially and verbally. But lately we haven’t been able to afford all of his treatments and we’ve seen him regress,” says Cameron’s mom, Colette. “We want to get him back on that path to success.” 

For the past three years the Ridge’s have helped raise money for other autistic children in greater Cincinnati and northern Kentucky through Generation Rescue, an organization dedicated to the recovery of children with autism.

ANDERSON TOWNSHIP, HAMILTON COUNTY, OH (FOX19) - Wednesday morning, community and financial support is coming to one Anderson Township firefighter and his family thanks to the Local 3412 Fire in the Hole Golf Scramble. 

Firefighter Jeff Ridge and his family are in the midst of a financial and emotional battle with autism. Their 6 year old son Cameron was diagnosed with the disorder three years ago.

Kroger Stop Diabetes Night at the Ball Park

CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - Kroger, the Cincinnati Reds and the American Diabetes Association have partnered to support the Stop Diabetes® movement by joining forces for the very first Kroger Stop Diabetes® Night at the Ball Park, happening on Tuesday, September 20 at Great American Ball Park as the Cincinnati Reds take on the Houston Astros at 7:10pm.

Cincinnati area Kroger locations are currently selling discount Mezzanine Level ticket vouchers for $15.  Tickets can be purchased at all Kroger store checkout counters.  Additionally, tickets can be purchased by visiting www.reds.com/stopdiabetes or by calling the American Diabetes Association at 513.759.9330.  A portion of the proceeds from the sale of the tickets will go to the American Diabetes Association.

ANDERSON TOWNSHIP, HAMILTON COUNTY, OH (FOX19) - Keegan’s Spirit Foundation will hold the 1st Annual Keegan’s Spirit Walk on Saturday, September 10th to support the foundation and the Keegan Scot Southers Memorial Scholarship Fund. The walk will be at Woodland Mound Park in Anderson Township. 

The Keegan Scot Southers Memorial Scholarship Fund was created to memorialize a child’s battle with several heart complications.  Keegan Scot Southers was born on July 8, 2009 with Congenital Heart Disease. In May 2010, he was placed on a heart transplant list as this was his only option for survival.
