BATAVIA, OH (FOX19) - The dedication of a new baseball field on Tuesday in Batavia honored the memory of Cincinnati Reds scout, Brian Wilson.

BATAVIA TOWNSHIP, OH (FOX19)  - The dedication for the new baseball field in Batavia to honor the memory of Cincinnati Reds scout Brian Wilson is scheduled for April 16.

Brian Wilson was the scout that found Jay Bruce and contributed to the careers of many other baseball players. Wilson died at the age of 33 of a heart attack in 2006.

Brian Wilson Field at the Batavia Township Community Park will become the home field of the UC Clermont Cougars baseball team that currently travels to Blue Ash to play their home games and practice.

The Batavia Township Community Center is also the home of the Reds Rookie Success League of Clermont County, a free, coed, character-building summer baseball program for underserved kids ages 7-to-10.

BATAVIA, OH (FOX19) - As one of America’s most anticipated and celebrated sporting events, the Super Bowl brings together families, friends and fans each year to enjoy the excitement of the big game.

In many instances, fans will gather to watch the game at sports bars, restaurants or Super Bowl-themed parties. The U.S. Department of Transportation, National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, along with the National Football League  and TEAM (Techniques for Effective Alcohol Management), have joined forces with Batavia’s local highway safety and law enforcement officials to spread an important safety message to the public about designating a sober driver on Super Bowl Sunday – Fans Don’t Let Fans Drive Drunk.

MARIEMONT, OH (FOX19) - The Mariemont High School basketball program is hosting a night of goodwill and entertainment to help raise money for melanoma.  The Foundation Games, played against Clermont Northeast on Tuesday, November 20, will raise money for assistant varsity basketball Coach Doug Ast and Terrace Park Elementary School teacher Maria Childs, who are both fighting melanoma.

All games will be played at Mariemont High School located on 2 Warrior Way. Admission is $5, although all youth wearing their basketball uniforms will be admitted for free.


Game times:

4:30pm: Boys junior varsity game

6pm: Girls varsity game

8pm: Boys varsity game

EASTGATE, OH (FOX19) - Bengals fans are invited to meet and greet Bengals player Carlos Dunlap at during a tailgate event in Eastgate.

According to the Bengals official Facebook page, Dunlap will be at the Eastgate Meijer store on Monday, October 15 from 6:30 - 7:30 p.m.

BATAVIA TOWNSHIP, OH (FOX19) - The questions came as quickly as the balls they tossed to campers at the Cincinnati Reds Rookie Success League (RRSL) underway at the Batavia Township Community Center ball fields. 

Reds third baseman Todd Frazier and catcher Devin Mesoraco laughed often as they pitched balls to the 6-to-12-year-olds attending the first ever Clermont County RRSL camp; in between visits to various diamonds, they fielded questions.  “What’s it feel like to get knocked over by a player stealing home?” asked one young boy.  “It doesn’t really hurt,” answered Mesoraco.  “I look at it as a way I can save a run for my team.  Besides, I have lots of padding in that catchers gear.”

“How many home runs have you hit?” shouted one young girl during a question and answer session.  Frazier has contributed 13 homers since his career began in the majors, while rookie Mesoraco has had six, including four this year.  “I’ve been playing
