Brewers meet with plans to craft a special beer

UNION TOWNSHIP, CLERMONT COUNTY, OH (FOX19) - With the city’s inaugural Cincinnati Beer Week just around the corner, the minds behind each of Cincinnati’s craft breweries decided to meet for a beer. But it's not one to drink – it's a beer to be brewed.

Wednesday, brewers Mike Carver, Mitch Dougherty, Matt Wehmeyer, Jason Roeper and Dan Listermann will meet at the farmhouse of Mike Dewey’s Mt. Carmel Brewing Company to brew the Cincinnati Brewmasters’ American Barleywine.

“This is an incredible opportunity to show the strength of this city's brewing heritage,” said Mike Dewey of Mt. Carmel Brewing. “We've long been overdue for Cincinnati to host its own beer week and this town's brewers want to do all we can to make it a success.”

The brewing of the beer comes just after Governor Kasich’s announcement of eased restrictions on brewery tasting rooms, which promises to make Ohio’s breweries more competitive outside of the state.
