Moscow and Tate Township have most building damage in Clermont County

 

BATAVIA, OH (FOX19) – The Village of Moscow has the highest dollar amount of damage and Tate Township has the most buildings damaged in the latest assessment of damage in Clermont County caused by Friday’s tornado.

Clermont County building inspectors have now reassessed several structures impacted by the March 2, 2012 tornado and severe weather that impacted the county.  A total of 303 buildings or structures were impacted in Franklin Township, Tate Township, Washington Township, and the Village of Moscow.  The assessment indicates that 55 structures were destroyed, 28 suffered major damage, 153 had minor damage, and 67 sustained slight damage.  The estimated value of the structures impacted by the storms is $14.8 million with a total estimated damage loss of $3.8 million.

COLUMBUS, OH (FOXC19) – Following the violent storms in southern Ohio this weekend, Attorney General Mike DeWine Monday offered a warning to people to beware of traveling contractors who try to take advantage of homeowners in need of assistance.

"Our thoughts and prayers go out to the families affected by the tornado and storms," Attorney General DeWine said. "Members of my office are in Clermont County now working with local officials to assess the situation and determine how we can help. In the meantime, we want to warn all affected homeowners to be wary of fly-by-night contractors trying to take advantage of this sad situation."

MIAMI TOWNSHIP, CLERMONT COUNTY, OH (FOX19) - You can learn how to design and create your 2012 organic food garden with Grailville’s Mary Lu Lageman.  She is teaching Garden Planning Toolbox 101 on Saturday, January 28, 2012 from 1:30 pm – 4:30 pm at Grailville Retreat & Program Center.

With spring just around the corner and seed catalogues piling up on the desk, winter is the time to envision and take the first steps toward creating your ideal organic garden. In this workshop, Lageman will follow an ecological approach to garden design and planning, using Permaculture principles and organic techniques. The class will explore plant needs, soil fertility, seed selection, water usage, garden location and layout, and other tools for a successful and productive organic vegetable garden.

ANDERSON TOWNSHIP, OH (FOX19) - The "Hungry Girl" of the Food Network, Lisa Lillian, will visit the Anderson Towne Center Kroger Store, located at 7580 Beechmont Rd. Cinti, OH. 45255 on October 19th, from 6:00 – 8:00 pm. 

Lillian will be autographing her book Supermarket Survival, answering questions, offering free samples and hosting a raffle. 

Autographs will be limited to copies of Supermarket Survival only; books must be purchased at Kroger, and customers must provide a valid Kroger receipt to have their books signed.

ANDERSON TOWNSHIP, OH (FOX19) - What ingredients do you need to make the perfect witch’s brew? 

A Hamilton County Parks District naturalist will talk about all the truths behind toads, spiders, bats and other animals found in a witch’s cabinet during a program, "Witch's Brew", at Seasongood Nature Center. 

This program is free and will be held on Sunday, October 23 at 2 pm.

Kroger provides details, asks you to check for recalled beef products

CINCINNATI (FOX19) - The Kroger Co. stores in the Cincinnati and Dayton areas are asking customers to check their refrigerators and freezers for 5 lb. chub Kroger Ground Beef 73% Lean 27% Fat and Kroger Beef Patties with a "best before or freeze by" date of September 12, 2011. 

This ground beef is part of a recall announced by Tyson Fresh Meats, Inc. 

Kroger customers can visit www.kroger.com/recall for the list of products subject to the recall sold in Kroger’s family of stores. The Tyson website lists all of the affected products and retailers. 

Kroger has removed affected items from store shelves and initiated its customer recall notification system. Customers who may have purchased the affected products will receive register receipt messages and/or automated phone calls.

MONROE TOWNSHIP, CLERMONT COUNTY (FOX19) - Ohio Department of Agriculture Director James Zehringer announced Friday that 88 contiguous properties have been added to the Asian Longhorned Beetle (ALB) quarantine zone in Clermont County. The movement of hardwood logs, firewood, stumps, roots and branches within these regulated areas is prohibited.

The center of the newly discovered infestation is the intersection of Lindale-Mt Holly and Concord roads within Monroe Township in Clermont County. The 88 parcels represent all land located within one-fourth mile of the ALB infestation.
