YMCA & Junior League Present Free Kids in the Kitchen Family Event | Events

CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - The YMCA of Greater Cincinnati and the Junior League of Cincinnati are partnering to offer Kids in the Kitchen, a FREE event for families focused on healthy fun. This event is being held on Saturday, April 16 10am-2pm at the University of Cincinnati Campus Recreation Center.
At Kids in the Kitchen, parents and kids will learn from celebrity chefs how to make healthy, tasty and affordable snacks and meals. There will also be face painting, games, and more. Thanks to Whole Foods Market, the first 750 families will receive a goodie bag.
Main Stage Acts -
YMCA Zumba for Kids & Families 10:30am
Take salsa, reggeaton, merengue, tango, flamenco, calypso, hip-hop, samba, and belly dancing, put it in a workout routine, add laughter, energy, and sweat and you've got ZUMBA! This class is a fusion of Latin and International music combined with beginner to more advanced dance moves to create a dynamic and effective workout that is fun for the entire FAMILY!
YMCA: The Hughes Step Team 12:20pm
The Hughes Step Team is a program that began in 2009 from the YMCA’s Hughes community Learning Center. Students from Hughes High School are eligible to join. The team learns the history and basic skills of stepping all while developing physical activity and learning the YMCA’s core values: Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility.
YMCA Mini-Clinics
Discover Health-Digestion Mobile
Discover Health offers programs that cover many different health topic areas such as Academic, Personal, Environmental, Physical and Social. There will be a classroom/van program that will present on the 38-foot mobile classroom.
Minute to Fitness
Minute to fitness is a spin off from N.B.C.’s popular show Minute to Win It. This program incorporates spinning a wheel that will randomly select a short task, game, or competitive contest activity that both parent and child can energetically participate in.
CATCH (Coordinated Approach to Child Health)
CATCH is an evidence-based, coordinated school health program designed to promote physical activity, healthy food choices and the prevention of tobacco use in children. The program incorporates activities that work on spatial awareness, aerobic activity and body coordination that are fun and engaging for children within the K-5 grade.
I.K. Kim Tae Kwon Do Center’s Inc.
Families learn together while doing forms, basic motions, and self-defense and sparring techniques. Participants gain stress reduction, flexibility, mental discipline, alertness, concentration and improved physical fitness while developing Tae kwon Do skills.
Clippard Family YMCA/Skyline Community Center
National Championship Double Dutch Team
10am-12noon
Come see and interact with national champion double dutchers. Team members will perform and encourage audience participation during this mini-clinic. All levels and ages welcome.
Clever Crazes for Kids Program
12noon-2pm
Clever Crazes for Kids help build healthy lives for children and their families. They do this through their engaging "edu-tainment" principles: nutrition, physical activity, self-esteem/bullying, and environmental sustainability (green living). The program focuses on children in grades K-8 in order to build strong foundations for brighter futures.
