Local man steals mini-van with 3 year-old still inside

MIAMI TOWNSHIP, OH (FOX19) - A man is in custody after allegedly stealing a mini-van with a 3 year-old child in the back seat Sunday.

Miami Township Police say that they were called to the Sunoco station at 1398 SR 131 around 1:18 for the report of a stolen Honda Odyssey mini-van, with a 3 year-old still in the back seat. Police say that after a description of the vehicle was broadcast to law enforcement, an officer spotted the vehicle, but lost it after the driver made several evasive maneuvers on Loveland Miami Road.

After police lost the suspect, another report went out that the child was dropped off at a Meijer gas station on SR 28 by a male in a large coat driving the Honda Odyssey. Police then relayed the description of the man in the "big coat."

A Hamilton County Sheriff's Office Deputy spotted a man with a big coat matching the description of the suspect walking on Montgomery Road. The officer stopped the man and discovered property belonging to the owner of the mini-van on his person. The mini-van was found within walking distance.

Police arrested Daniel Wolffram, 25, for theft of a motor vehicle, kidnapping, fleeing and eluding, resisting arrest, and driving under suspension. He has been transported to the Clermont County Jail.

Wolffram, who according to the police is homeless, has previous drug and traffic charges, as well as another charge for receiving stolen property.
