Standoff ends with woman going to hospital

BATAVIA TOWNSHIP, OH (FOX19) – A long standoff on West Fork Ridge Drive off old 32 in Batavia Township has ended peacefully.

A woman locked herself in a camping trailer behind a home on that street and was threatening to hurt herself with a weapon.  Clermont County Sheriff’s deputies were called out after someone called up in mid-morning and said they were concerned about the woman.

When deputies arrived, they could see she the woman was in the trailer and had a gun in her hand. They surrounded the place from late morning to mid afternoon and started talking with the woman, asking her to come out and give up her weapon.

After four hours, she came out and surrendered the gun, which turned out to be a loaded 9 millimeter pistol.

She was taken to a hospital for mental evaluation.  Sheriff Tim Rodenberg says she may face criminal prosecution after she gets out of the hospital.

PIERCE TOWNSHIP, OH (FOX19) - Pierce Township Police are still trying to identify the man in these surveillance photos.   Detectives say that he committed an armed robbery at the Super Sam’s located at 1335 Ohio Pike in Pierce Township on December 26, 2011.  He displayed a black handgun and fled on foot west bound on Ohio Pike.  

He is described as a white male, late 20’s, 5’8” and 150-180 lbs, thin build with dark hair and brown eyes.  He was wearing jeans with rips on the upper right leg area, a hooded greenish Aeropostale hooded sweatshirt with the “Aeropostale” in white and “New York” under it in blue, a dark ball cap with the hood over the hat, and black gym shoes with white around the bottom of the sole area.

BATAVIA, OH (FOX19) - Clermont County Sheriff’s Office is attempting to identify two suspects in connection with the theft and subsequent forgery of business checks that were stolen from 2760 Old State Route 32 in Batavia.

Checks were cashed at WesBanco Bank located at 4517 Vine St. in St. Bernard on Jan.13. Any information on the identity of these two males please contact Investigations at 513-732-7545.

BATAVIA, OH (FOX19) - The County Commissioners Association of Ohio (CCAO) has again named Board of Clermont County Commissioners President Bob Proud as chair of the Justice and Public Safety Committee.  The committee makes recommendations on a variety of criminal justice issues in Ohio.

"Given the fiscal challenges that confront counties, it is critical that we find better ways to run our court and criminal justice systems with the same or fewer dollars,” said President of CCAO Deborah Lieberman.  “Many counties spend 65 percent or more of their budget on public safety and justice programs; I welcome Bob's leadership as we look for new ways to save tax dollars."

“I have always had a strong interest in criminal justice and look forward to working on programs and initiatives that can save money, reduce recidivism, and make our communities safer,” said Commissioner Proud, who also chaired the committee in 2011.

COLUMBUS, OH (FOXC19) – Following the violent storms in southern Ohio this weekend, Attorney General Mike DeWine Monday offered a warning to people to beware of traveling contractors who try to take advantage of homeowners in need of assistance.

"Our thoughts and prayers go out to the families affected by the tornado and storms," Attorney General DeWine said. "Members of my office are in Clermont County now working with local officials to assess the situation and determine how we can help. In the meantime, we want to warn all affected homeowners to be wary of fly-by-night contractors trying to take advantage of this sad situation."

Robbery suspect wanted for questioning in Clermont County

JACKSON AND STONELICK TOWNSHIPS, OH (FOX19) - A man is wanted for questioning in Clermont County for several burglaries that have taken place in the Jackson and Stonelick Township areas.

Police have released surveillance photos of the suspect on Feb. 6, at time he used a stolen credit card. The suspect is driving the white minivan. The photos were  taken from a store in the 1200 block of Old State Route 74 in Union Township, Clermont County.

ATM card thief takes more than $1200 from victim

BATAVIA, OH (FOX19) - Detectives in Clermont County are looking for a man wanted for stealing more than $1200 dollars from an ATM machine.

According to reports, the ATM card was stolen from a Batavia resident's coat pocket on Jan. 12.

The card was later used three times to withdraw money from an ATM on Linn Street in the West End and one time at an U.S. Bank ATM in downtown Cincinnati.

The Clermont County Sheriff's Office released photos of the suspect taken on Jan. 13 just before 5 a.m. from an ATM machine at Fifth and Walnut streets in downtown Cincinnati.

Anyone who can help identify this suspect should call Crimestoppers at 513-352-3040. All calls are anonymous and callers may be eligible for a cash reward.
